Most believers don’t understand the secrets behind ruling
their environment. God has given us the Dominion Mandate, which is a mandate
for rulership. It is a mandate that empowers us to manage the earth and all its
resources as faithful stewards (Genesis 1:28).
Genesis 1:28
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
Genesis 1:28
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
It is amazing to note that most of the people to whom God
has entrusted the earth and all its resources don’t even know how to govern
their own lives talkless of governing their environment. The Bible makes us to
understand that every believer is made a king and a priest unto God in order to
reign on the earth. Adam ruled as a king because He was a priest whose altar
was potent. God visited him always in the cool of the day to commune with him and
obviously to teach him how to carry out his task of dominion. As long as his
altar was potent, he had dominion. When he sinned, his altar was desecrated and
he lost the glory of God. When this happened, he lost dominion over all.
The physical world is ruled from the supernatural realm. The
altar connects the physical realm to the supernatural realm. It is a designated
for interactions, transactions and exchanges between the natural realm and the
supernatural realm of existence. It is a place where covenants, vows and
sacrifices are established and executed. No priest can function without a potent
altar. It is the duty of the priest to make his altar potent.
Every land, territory and institution is ruled from the
altar that is speaking in it. Whosoever must rule in the territory must first
establish the ruling altar and then exercise power and dominion over the
territory through the altar. By raising an altar in a territory, the priest
brings God’s power, kingdom and glory into that territory and connects his
environment to heaven.
For Christians, a functional altar demands that lots of prayers,
worship, quality time spent in communion with God in the word of God and
sacrifice be established regularly. When a believer spends time with the word
of God, God equips him with the tools of Dominion. One word from God always
changes situations. God gives to the believer a Rhema word which he uses to
change his world (John 1:1-2; Hebrews 4:12).
Have you ever been reading the Bible when suddenly you were
gripped by a fresh new understanding of God? That was God speaking! That was
God sending a Rhema word! That was God revealing something new to you about
Himself! So, what do I do to respond to this truth.
- I write down the passage of scripture.
- Then I meditate on it.
- I try to immerse myself in the meaning of that verse or passage. What is God telling me?
- I prophesy the Word over my life, situation or territory.
- I adjust my life to the truth and, thus, to God. That means I agree with God, and I commit to take any actions necessary for Him to work in the way He has just revealed to me. I identify the adjustments I need to make in my personal life, my family, my church, and my work life in response to God’s revelation.
- I write a prayer response to God and spend time praying it.
- As I leave the place of Bible study, I watch to see how God uses that truth in my life during the coming days.
- I take action by obeying the Word. It becomes a governing scripture in my life.
DISCUSSION.
- What has God said to you recently through His Word? How did you respond to it? Did you experience a miracle?
- Are you spending time regularly reading your Bible so you can hear God speak?
- If you keep a journal as you read scripture, take time to review it and see if there’s a pattern to what God has been saying lately.
- If you have not been hearing God speak to you through His Word, why do you think that is? What might you need to do to change that?
